Google reviews with NFC: making reviews easier for your customers

Many happy customers leave without writing a review, often because it is tedious: finding the business on Google Maps, finding the right button, signing in. An NFC stand shortens that path to a single tap.

How does it work?

An NFC card or tag sits near the till, on the table or at reception. The customer holds their phone close and your business's review page opens straight away, ready for a rating. No app, no searching, no QR code to frame.

The link stored in the stand can be changed from your space. If you switch listings, or want to point to your Instagram for a while, the physical stand stays the same.

What Google allows, and what it forbids

Google forbids offering anything in exchange for a review (discounts, gifts, loyalty points) and asking only satisfied customers. An NFC stand follows these rules: it simply makes the review page easier to reach, for every customer, with no conditions. Reviews stay free, whether positive or negative.

Where to place the stand?

The right moment is when the customer is happy and has their phone in hand. A few spots that work well:

  • Near the till, at payment time.
  • On restaurant or café tables, with the bill.
  • At the front desk of a hair salon or beauty institute, at the end of the appointment.
  • On a shop counter, next to the card terminal.

NFC or QR code?

They complement each other. A QR code means opening the camera and framing it; NFC only means holding the phone close. Displaying both reaches every customer, including those whose phone has no NFC.

Beyond reviews

The same chip can open your Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, or a business card with your contacts and booking link. To bring customers back, ORA also offers an app-free loyalty program.

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer need to install an app?

No. The review page opens directly on their phone, there is nothing to download.

Can I reward a customer for leaving a review?

No, Google forbids it. The stand only makes the review easier to leave.

Does the stand work with every phone?

With almost every recent smartphone: automatically on iPhone XS and later, through Control Center on iPhone 7 to X, and on Android when NFC is turned on.

How much does a stand cost?

The price depends on the type and number of stands. Request a quote from the Professionals page.
